GORMAN — Ada Irene Little West was born March 12, 1916.  She joined her Lord in heaven on June 16, 2009.  She lived 93 years serving her Father, her husband, children, family and friends.  Her husband of sixty years preceded her in death on August 23, 1995.  For the past fourteen years she has yearned to follow him home. John told his children that their mother was a Proverbs 31: 10 –31

Woman. “ Who can find a virtuous woman?… her children rise up and call her blessed, her husband also and he praiseth her.” And anyone who knew Irene well, can say amen!

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday with Bro. Barry Schahn officiating at the Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery.

Irene was one of fifteen children, only three brothers remain behind.  She is survived by her four children; Peggy Brooks and husband, Archie of Merkel; daughter, Sandra Osborne of Gorman; Johnnie Barnett of Stephenville and one son, David West and his wife, Kathy of Chino Valley, Arizona.  She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends. 

She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Gorman for 61 years.  Irene served her Father well and has now heard “Well done my child, welcome home.”

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Gorman.
