DE LEON — G.A. (Allen) Hines, 95, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2008, in a Stephenville hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2008, at Nowlin Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Acton Cemetery near Granbury. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening.
Mr. Hines was born on Jan. 26, 1913, in Utica, Okla., to Will N. and Bessie Whittle Hines. He married Winnie Wels on Nov. 20, 1982, in Gorman. After moving from Stephenville, he lived in De Leon since 1983. G.A. was a member of the Gorman First Baptist Church. During his lifetime, he had pursed several occupations including being a butcher, a farmer, and a horseman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie Hines; three sons, Bill and Charles Hines, and Charles Davis; daughter, Teresa Bauman; brothers, Coleman, Homer, Marvin, and Vestal Hines; two sisters, May Hines-Shipp and Omie Hines.
Survivors include a stepson, Ray Shipp of De Leon; sons, Wendell Hines of Houston and Everett Davis of Granbury; daughters, Francis Lobb of Houston and Betty Anderson of Dublin; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
