GRANBURY — Mae Hazel, 82, passed away Friday, Nov. 20, 2009 in DeCordova. Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Wiley Funeral Home. Burial at Granbury Cemetery.
Mae was born Jan. 31, 1927 in Slaton to T.L. and Annie Griffin Peterson. She married Morris Glenn Hazel Jan. 8, 1949 in Lubbock. He passed away on Sept. 10, 2006. She sang alto with her family singing group, "The Hazel Family", that has recorded five albums and sang in churches through west and central Texas and eastern New Mexico. Mae was a member of Redbud Baptist Church in Lubbock and was a church choir member over 50 years. She worked in the Lubbock ISD for 20 years.
Survivors include, Children, Donna Lasater and husband, Russell of Stephenville, Wayland Hazel and wife, Elaine of Dimmitt, Barry Hazel and wife, Julie of Granbury and Carolyn Hazel of Granbury; grandchildren, Morgan Hazel, Stephanie Hazel, Sam Hazel, John Hazel, Tie Lasater, Boone Lasater, Sage Lasater, Senna Lasater, Aleigha Phelps, Chase Lindsey and Toby Lindsey; great-grandchildren, Zoey Phelps and Keagan Lasater.
Memorials can be made to Universal Hospice in Stephenville.
