ENERGY — A. A. “Butch” McDougal, 74, of Energy, passed away Saturday June 6, 2009, in Hamilton. Funeral services, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Comanche, will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ronnie Calcote officiating. Interment will follow at the Energy Cemetery in Energy. The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Butch was born March 29, 1935, to Eddie and Grace McDougal in McCamey. He graduated from Gustine High School in 1953 and married Kay Pettit. Butch and Kay celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on June 3, 2009. He was a salesman in the oil field/construction industry for 40 plus years in Odessa. After retirement in 1994, Butch moved to Energy, where Mr. McDougal ranched, hunted, fished, and just loved being a real cowboy. His true joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved being an avid fan at all their activities. He was a member of the Energy Volunteer Fire Department and Pettit Baptist Church.
Butch was the Sheppard of our family and always looked out for our protection and well being. Friends & family alike could call and ask for his opinion. He always had a listening ear, an open heart, and maybe some advice; never meeting a stranger, he had a smile on his face and warm handshake. He will be missed tremendously.
Mr. McDougal is survived by his wife Kay Pettit McDougal of Energy, daughter, Carol Barrett and husband Ronnie of Gustine; son, Bob McDougal and wife Gayla of The Woodlands; daughter, Genia Johnson and husband Jerry of Comanche; grandchildren, Johnny and Shelly Barrett, Cindy and Nick Stevenson, Jenny and Kyle Koho, Candice McDougal, Robert McDougal, Jerrod Johnson, Kaylie Johnson, and Mandie Johnson; great grandchildren, Gracie and Jett Barrett, and Presley Koho; sister, Margie Marrs of Odessa, brother, Pete McDougal of Comanche, many cousins, nieces & nephews, and other special friends.
He was preceded in death by parents Eddie and Grace McDougal; brother, John B. McDougal; sister, Joyce Bresler.
In lieu of flowers, memorials honoring Butch should be made to the Pettit Baptist Church, in care of Ronnie Calcote, 148 CR 250, Gustine, TX., 76455
