STEPHENVILLE - Jeri Galloway Bunnell, 75, of Stephenville, let go of her daughter’s hand and took the hand of the Lord on the morning of August 2, 2010.

It was a peaceful and dignified end to a wonderful life. She was blessed with beauty, charm, elegance and was an example of a classy southern lady.

Jeri was born on December 13, 1934 in Brownwood, where she grew up and attended school in Early and met the love of her life, Edgar M. Bunnell.  They were married in June 1953 and had two children, Gary and Debbie.

Jeri worked full-time while raising the children and supporting her husband’s goals, including typing his doctoral dissertation.

They lived in Ohio and Michigan before settling in Mobile, Alabama. Jeri was the executive assistant at Alabama Aviation and Technical College for many years until her retirement.

After her husband’s death, she and her daughter moved back to Texas, where she loved the Bluebonnets. She chose Stephenville as her home and joined the First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Dr. Ed Bunnell; parents, Floyd and Ruth Galloway; and her son, Gary Bunnell.

Jeri is survived by her daughter, Debbie, and her beloved pets, Bunny and Mitzi, her brother, Floyd Galloway, of Abernathy; brother-in-law, Jim Bunnell of Stephenville; sister-in-law, Norma Hill, of Allen; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Ed Bunnell Scholarship Fund at the University of South Alabama or the charity of choice.

As per her request, Jeri was cremated and a burial will take place in Windhill Cemetery in Jacksboro, where her son and husband are buried.
