MONAHANS Mary L. Fulfer, 86, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Funeral services are scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2008, at the Hannibal Country Church. Interment will follow at the Hannibal Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Harkey Family Funeral Services.

She was born on Nov. 15, 1921, in Eastland County to Clearance and Hattie (Jones) Simpson. She was a homemaker. Mary worked as a file clerk in headquarters at an Army Air Field. She was in charge of locater card file and gave information requested by telephone. Mary also handled 201 files and for nine months was message center clerk in headquarters at New Guinea and the Philippines. She worked in distribution section as messenger and recorded time of receipt and delivery on messages and made out receipts to be signed at time of delivery. Mary also was employed for six months as a sheet metal worker by consolidated Aircraft Corporation, Fort Worth (1942 and 1943). She drilled holes with hammer and center punch, assembled sheet metal parts with rivets, bolts, and screws. She used square shears to cut sheet metal and did counter sinking of rivet holds and installed electric wires on wings.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Fulfer in 1995 and a son, Jim Fulfer in 1992.

Survivors include 5 sons, Bert Fulfer of Hephzibah, Ga., Mike Fulfer of San Diego, Calif., Edwin Fulfer of Monahans, Joe Fulfer of Arlington and Pat Fulfer of Austin; a daughter, Dianne Solon of Ft. Worth; a sister, Joy Whisenhunt of Coleman; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
