STEPHENVIILE — US Army retired Lt. Col. Bobby (Bob) R. Burleson, 77,  died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at a local nursing home.

Graveside Services with full Military Honors will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Rev. Nic Burleson and Rev. Keith Moore officiating.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2009, at Lacy Funeral Home.

He was born on May 19, 1931, to the late William R. and Alice O. (McClellan) Burleson in Comanche County, Texas.  He married Leona F. (Flo) Williamson on September 16, 1951, in Erath County, Texas.  She preceded him in death on April 28, 2008.

He was a member of the Harvey Baptist Church.

Lieutenant Colonel Bobby R. Burleson was a career military man.  He served the majority of his adult working life in the United States Army.  He served in both Korean and Vietnam Wars.  He served his country with pride, dignity, and honor for over twenty years.  While serving his country he received many decorations including the Bronze Star Medal, Legion of Merit, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jerrell and Debbie Burleson of Desdemona, Texas; two grandsons: Nic Burleson and wife Johanna, of Kyle, Texas, and Justin Burleson and wife Christie, of Kingwood, Texas.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Bill and Harold Burleson and one sister Imogene Norris.
