POST — Jerry Sparks, 66, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at University Medical Center in Lubbock.
Memorial services were held at 2p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2998, at the First United Methodist Church in Post with the Rev. Jon Foster officiating and under the direction of Hudman Funeral Home of Post.
He was born Feb. 24, 1942, in Stephenville to Leonard and Dolie Sparks. He married Mary Ann Miller on Dec. 29, 1972, in Abilene. He served in the US Army as a Military Policeman and later as a police officer in Stephenville, Dalhart and Kermit. He has been a resident of Post since 2006.
Survivors include his wife Mary Ann Sparks of Post, children, Dollie Jean Young of St. Louis, Mo., Shelli (Larry) Pinion of Oklahoma City,Okla., James Ray Miller of Kermit, Guin (Charla) Miller of Post, Steve (Beverly) Miller of Post, and Bunny (Scooter) Lynch of Post; brothers, Jimmy (Penny) Sparks of Strawn, Donald Sparks of Stephenville, and Gary (Gay) Sparks of Dublin; sisters, LaVada (Bob) Wainscott of Strawn and Joyce (Jerry) Carpenter of Stephenville; 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
