Vivian Arlene Martin was born on July 16, 1917, in Nacogdoches. She married Byron L. Singleton July 15, 1936, and shared 72 years of loving marriage with him. They began their lives in East Texas, Settling in Stephenville in the mid 1950s. She was a devoted and talented homemaker and mother, her love and kindness drawing young and old to her. She was a blessing to all that knew her.

Always young at heart, she loved “making memories” with family and friends: cooking great meals, fishing, traveling (especially!), and sharing times with many wonderful friends. When the word “go” was mentioned, Vivian was always ready! She spent her life giving, sharing, and caring for others, which gave her great joy. We will always remember her smile and positive attitude. She lit up our lives, warmed our hearts, and made us smile with her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Hollis E. and Gladys L. Martin of Martinsville, Texas, and Sister Laverne Paris of Nacogdoches.

Survivors include her husband, Byron Singleton of Stephenville; son, Perry L. Singleton of Arlington; sister, Pauline Ricks of Virginia Beach, Va.; grandchildren, Dr. Brad Singleton of Austin and Stacy Singleton of Charlotte, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Carter and Zane Singleton of Austin.

In lieu of flowers, her memory may be honored by a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association; First Baptist Church of Stephenville, 334 W. Green St. 76401; or Mulberry Manor Nursing Home, 1670 Lingleville Rd. 76401.
