LIPAN - Mildred Ford Thormann, 87, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, in Stephenville.?A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lipan Church of Christ with burial following at Evergreen Cemetery in Lipan. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Wiley Chapel in Lipan.
Mrs. Thormann was born Mar. 19, 1923, in Hood County, to Ira Ford and Bettie Emilene Lewis Ford. She married Fred Lewis Thormann, May 8, 1940 in Lipan. She was a life-long resident of Lipan and a member of the Lipan Church of Christ. Mrs. Thormann was a licensed vocational nurse and was appointed by Gov. Dolph Brisco to the State Board of Nurse Examiners for a six year term in 1976. She was selected Nurse of the Year for State of Texas in 1979 and had also served as president of LVN Association of the State of Texas. Mrs. Thormann worked for Dr. Jim Terrell, Jr. for many years.?Other memberships include the Chieftan and Squaw Club, Hood County Extension Education Club, Tri-County League of Nurses, Hood County Geneological Society and the Evergreen Cemetery Association. She also served as an election judge for Hood Couty Precinct Seven.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Fred, and granddaughter, Sarah Aleene Thormann.?Survivors include son, Randy Thormann and wife, Robin, of Lipan; daughter, Gayle Murphy and husband, Paul, of Cleburne; grandchildren, Andy Thormann, Adam Thormann and wife, Samantha, Angelique Thormann, all of Lipan; great grandchildren, Catherine Thormann, Noah Thormann, Avery Herring, Chandler Ford; brother, Wayne Ford and wife, Emily, of Lipan; and many friends.
