DE LEON — Marvin Jones, 88, died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at St. Joe Baptist Church in De Leon with Jackie Auvenshine officiating. Burial will follow in Victor Cemetery with Nowlin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jones was born on Oct. 27, 1919, in Erath County to the late Clarence and Myrtle Young Jones. He married Waldene Perry on Nov. 12, 1938, in Rock Bluff in Comanche County. Mr. Jones was a farmer and rancher and resided in the De Leon area all of his life. He was a veteran of the US Army during World War II and a member of St. Joe Baptist Church.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Edgar Jones and a sister, Gwendola Morris.
Survivors include wife, Waldene Jones of De Leon; son, Carroll Jones of Dublin; sister, Ruby Fay Pair of De Leon; three grandchildren, James Jones, Carolyn Griffin and Vicki Jones; three great-grandchildren, Candice, Amanda and Jonathan Griffin; and a great great-grandson, Jayden Griffin.
