DUBLIN - Oma Gertrude Morrison, 87, went to be with the Lord on March 20, 2011.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Harrell Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Pecan Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Oma was born Nov. 23, 1923 in San Saba to Robert Lee Mathews and Opha Cedlia (Dacus) Mathews. She was united in marriage to Owen Ditmore who preceded her in death. She later married Delmon Lee Morrison who also preceded her in death.

Oma Mathews Morrison raised five boys on her own. If this was not difficult enough, she found time while working full time to support her children to attend night school to better herself. The first degree she attained was that of a licensed vocational nurse and later completed the requirements to become a registered nurse. While pursuing her license for that of nursing home administrator, she had the same professor as one of her sons whom was attending college at the same time. Her lack of prejudice and self determination to better herself academically provided an excellent foundation as a role model, not only to her children, but also to those lives she touched every day.

She is survived by her sons, Bobby Owen Ditmore of Dublin, Harold Gene Ditmore of Stephenville, James Garland Ditmore of Las Cruces, NM, Charles Lester Ditmore of Dublin and Rick Lee Morrison of Clifton; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and many friends who will miss her dearly.
