GUSTINE — Paul Smith, 72, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, at the Hamilton General Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov.14, 2008, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Comanche with Rev. Ronnie Calcote officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery in Gustine. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
He was born April 8, 1936, in Comanche County the son of the late Ory and Lorene Parkman Smith. He attended schools here and later married Caroline Couch on March 24, 1956, in Pettit. He had been a longtime rancher in Comanche County in the Pettit Community area and loved being outdoors with his cattle on the ranch. He also drove a truck for several years. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Smith of Pettit, near Gustine; son, James Smith and wife Donna of Bellville; daughter, Terri Smith of Gustine; granddaughter, Shelby Smith and step grandchildren, Chris Gerhardt, Chad Gerhardt, and Leslie Morton; step-great grandchildren, Holden and Corbin Gerhardt; brothers, Kenneth Smith of Proctor, Charles Smith of Comanche and Vernon Smith of Rising Star; sisters, Genetha Andrews of Comanche and Jeraldine Kincheloe of Carthage and several nieces and nephews.
