SAN MARCOS - Neita Katheryn Vaught, 92, a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister, has gone to be with the Lord.  

Neita was born in Desdemona to Durant and Vallie Putty. She graduated from Desdemona High School before going to College in Abilene.

On Aug. 29, 1950, she married Hugh Alan Vaught. They lived many years in Snyder, Texas where she was involved in the PTA at both Northeast Elementary and Travis Junior High. After they moved to Olivia, she attended nursing school at Champ Taylor Memorial Hospital in Port Lavaca.

She lived for a time in Odessa, Texas and Bakersfield, CA. before moving to Wink, where she was a co-curator of the Roy Orbison museum.

Neita will be remembered by her family and friends as a strong, lovely, loving and hard working woman. She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Neita was preceded in death by her husband Hugh Alan Vaught, her parents, one son, John Wheat and wife Mary, daughter, Judy Whitson, daughter-in-law Carol Youngblood, wife of Donny Vaught, one brother, Jackie Putty, two Sisters, Mary Stafford, and Billie Williams.
She is survived by sons Jimmy Vaught, Gary Vaught and wife Karen, Bill Vaught, and Donny Vaught. One sister, Dessa Shaw, grandchildren, Melissa Brooks and husband David, Joe Taylor and wife Julissa, Gary Vaught, Jr, Jason Vaught, Eddie Whitson and wife Pam, Mary Eisenhour and husband Donnie, Emery Whitson, and several great grandchildren, an uncle, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Private interment will be held at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
