ABILENE—Graveside services for Opal Fae Masters, 93, of Abilene and formerly of Lueders, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 12, at Spring Creek Cemetery in Avoca. The family will receive visitors from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Monday before the service time at Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home in Stamford. 

Opal was born in Archer County, Texas, the daughter of the late Austin B. and Effie (Ownby) Ham. She graduated from Lueders High School in 1941. Opal married Elmer E.M. “Chick” Masters on Aug. 12, 1943 in Anson, Texas. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1998. 

Opal worked for the Abilene State School and retired in 1985. She moved to Abilene from Lueders in 1989. Opal was a member of the Methodist Church.

Preceding Opal in death were her parents; her husband; two daughters, Gloria Jean Masters Lau, Judy Karon Master Jordan; one brother, Orville Ham; and an infant sister, Nora Ham.


Loving family left to cherish the life and memory of Opal are granddaughters, Lisa and Scott Herold of Abilene, Gina McEachran and fiancé Rick Woodson of Stephenville, Lori and Lloyd Gage of Ada, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Karon Herold and fiancé Jason Henderson of Abilene, Jordan Herold of Abilene, Landon McEachran of Stephenville, and Gigi McEachran of Stephenville, Addison , Anderson, and Ace Allen, and Grayson Gage, all of Ada, Oklahoma; son in law, Bob Jordan and wife Carolyn of Abilene; four brothers, Don Ham of Norwalk, CA., Jerry and wife Gay Ham of Ft. Stockton, John Ham of Bloomington, CA., Larry Ham and Carol of Twin Peaks, CA., and one sister, Velma Davis of Abilene; and numerous nieces and nephews.
