STEPHENVILLE - A service for Janet Whitley will be held at First United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20.
Janet was born in King City, California but grew up a Texan. She obtained her doctorate in Education at the University of Texas and became a resident of Stephenville when she took a professor’s position at Tarleton State University.
She was passionate about teaching and an active member of her community, having served on the Stephenville Planning and Zoning Commission and been a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the “Keep Stephenville Beautiful” organization and the First United Methodist Church.
She dedicated her life to education, and once retired continued designing lesson plans for teachers and teaching ESL classes. Through her generosity and compassion for others Janet touched many lives, and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Clovia Whitley. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Don and Linda Whitley, her son and daughter-in-law Aaron and Barbara Faircloth, her daughter Kelley Kaye, her grandson, Guilhem Piat and many dear friends.
