STEPHENVILLE - Services for Cooper Zachary McCarty, 24, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Zion Lutheran Church in Priddy with Pastor Mark Schimmel and Joseph Cisneroz officiating. Graveside services will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Priddy.

Serving as pallbearers are Collin Crawford, Dylan Youngblood, Justin Nichols, Aaron Keith, Ryan Newton and Daniel Shirley.

Cooper was born in 1993 and placed with his parents Diana and Dudley McCarty through the Edna Gladney Center on June 25, 1993.

He graduated from De Leon High School in May 2012 and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology through Tarleton State University in August 2016.

Cooper is survived by the love of his life, Taylor Greene; his parents, Diana and Dudley McCarty of De Leon; his brother and sister-in-law, Kia and Soundrea McCarty of Goldthwaite; his niece, MayLeigh McCarty; his maternal grandmother, Adaline Bufe of Priddy; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Elton "Shorty" Bufe; his paternal grandparents, Violet and EV McCarty; his uncle, Duncan McCarty; and his cousins, Brad Bufe and Kynda Bufe.

Cooper will always be remembered for his love for his family and friends and his wide open, generous heart. There was nothing he wouldn't do for those he loved and even random strangers who needed a hand up. His favorite things were spending time with his family on Sundays at Grandma's house or at the McCarty family farm in Proctor, playing with his niece MayLeigh, traveling with his buddies and playing softball, and most importantly, loving and caring for Taylor. Cooper was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and camping on the river or in Colorado.

Because the McCarty family was made whole through adoption and Cooper had expressed a strong interest in adopting as well, the family requests memorials be made to Gladney Center for Adoption, 6300 John Ryan Drive, Fort Worth, Texas, 76132. Condolences may be offered online at
