STEPHENVILLE—Funeral services for David Neal Jenkins, 61, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 30, at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Smith Springs Cemetery in Erath County. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

David was born in Stephenville to the late Norman and Juanita Burdette Jenkins. He was a graduate of Stephenville High School class of 1974 and earned two degrees from Tarleton State University, a BS in Agriculture and a BS in Accounting. David worked for many years at Brandon Feed Mill and at Poston’s Feed Mill, and later managing a hardware store in Godley. He has resided most of his life in Stephenville and was a member of the Rocky Point Baptist Church. David loved the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were his passions. He had told friends at one time, he felt as though he was born in the wrong time – should be living in a cabin as a mountain man in the old west. 

Survivors include his sister, Sandra Porter and husband David of Stephenville; brother, Randall Jenkins and wife Lela of Mesquite; nieces and nephews, Matthew Porter and wife April of Stephenville, Melanie Porter of Austin, Zack Jenkins of Mesquite, Nathan Jenkins and wife Megan of Waxahachie, Bethany Jenkins, Abby Jenkins, Isaac Jenkins, Chloe Jenkins, and Rachel Jenkins all of Mesquite; great-niece, Sarah Porter of Stephenville; and many cousins.
