Bill Lambert had just returned home from a 7-day cruise with his wife when he began looking through his mail and caught his first glimpse of a fairly sophisticated scam.

Buried in the pile were four official looking documents addressed to his 86-year-old mother-in-law who lives with the couple, demanding more than $16,000 in late property taxes.
