Two community events are set to sizzle at Stephenville City Park Friday, Aug 12.

The Erath County United Way will begin its ambitious 2012 campaign to raise $270,000 with the annual fish fry prepared by the locally-renowned chefs with the Knights of Columbus.

The catfish dinner will be served from 5:30-8 p.m. at the park's large pavilion.

"We kick off the United Way campaign each year with the fish fry," said board member Cole Parks. "The money raised from the fish fry, silent auction and donations will create our beginning balance for the 2012 campaign."

The organization exceeded its $265,000 campaign goal last year and is confident it can exceed the 2012 goal.

Advance tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children and are available at First Financial Bank, TexasBank, First National Bank Dublin, Town and Country Bank and Members Trust Credit Union.

Tickets at the gate are $10 for adults and $5 for children.

This year, the event will include to-go orders.

For those who can't tolerate the heat, call 592-4079 to place an order for pick up. Organizers are encouraging to-go traffic to enter City Park on S. Belknap or S. Graham streets, drive east past the pavilion and exit on Long Street near the Rec. Hall.

Following the fish fry, the Texstar Summer Concert Series will take stage at the Birdsong Amphitheater.

Ed Bruce and Davin James will jam out for the third of four free concerts.

Ricky Skaggs will perform for the fourth and final concert in the summer series scheduled for Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5.
