Announcements that water and sewer rates will go up effective with the first billing cycle in April were made at Tuesday's Stephenville City Council meeting.
Reports from the finance and public works committees who reviewed projected water and sewer revenue and expenses reflected the need for cost enhancement. As a result of the audit, the recommendation was for an increase in volume charge on water from $3.25 per 1,000 gallons to $3.50 per 1,000 gallons. An adjustment in sewer charges was suggested at a rate of $3.40 per 1,000 gallons, an increase of 25 cents.
