Dr. J.D. Sheffield (R-Gatesville) was sworn in as the State Representative for District 59. Flanked by his wife Regina, supporters, and staff members, Sheffield took the oath of office alongside fellow members of the Texas House of Representatives. The 83rd session of the Legislature, which will run through late May of 2013, was called to order by recently appointed Texas Secretary of State, John Steed. Sheffield is one of 44 new legislators, the largest freshman class in decades.
“My campaign focused on supporting local, quality public education for our next generation of leaders and healthcare, particularly for rural Texans” said Sheffield. “We are ready to get to work on behalf of District 59 and Texas.”
