A one-vehicle accident claimed the life of a Stephenville man just before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to a report released by the Texas Department of Public Safety office in Mineral Wells, Victor Ramirez, 34, was traveling south on U.S. Highway 281 when his vehicle left the roadway and struck an embankment, causing the vehicle to roll. The report said Ramirez, who was traveling alone, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from a 1996 Ford pickup.

According to a DPS spokesperson, the accident occurred 1.5 miles north of FM 4 in Palo Pinto County. The road and weather conditions were reported as dry and clear. 

Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:10 p.m. by Judge Todd Baker of Mineral Wells.

The report stated DPS Trooper Adrian Briseno worked the scene.

Ramirez’s body was sent to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.
