E-T Staff Report

During the past week, Stephenville FFA has been extremely busy competing in district and area leadership development events.  Eleven leadership teams competed in Hamilton for the Cross Timbers District Contest on Nov. 16 with nine advancing to the area competition.  On Nov.  21, those nine teams competed at the Area IV LDE competition, consisting of 86 schools that compete to advance to the state level.  Stephenville advanced two teams to state.  The big accomplishment of the day was winning area sweepstakes.  This is the first time in 10 years that Stephenville FFA has won the area championship.

“We are always in the hunt and seem to come up a few points shy,” said advisor Laurah Williams. “This is a tremendous accomplishment considering how young our teams are.  Out of 32 students competing on Saturday, only five were seniors. We have a very strong young group coming up and we expect to continue our success.”
