Following a decision made last spring, choir directors from Tarleton State University and Stephenville High School have combined groups for an upcoming concert.
“This concert was created as an opportunity for my students to learn from a more experienced group of singers and to sing under the direction of Tarleton’s choir director,” said SHS Choir Director John Tucker.
Although the main focus is giving high school choir students some experience, that isn’t the only goal.
“This concert has been developed to demonstrate how a working partnership between Tarleton Department of Fine Arts and the Stephenville Independent School District can result in positive outcomes for everyone involved. We hope that this type of partnership can become an annual affair,” said Dr. Rives, Tarleton Director of Choirs.
The performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at the TSU Wells Fine Arts auditorium and will incorporate music by composers like Maurice Durufle, Eric Whitacre, Johannes Brahms, and Texas composers like Joseph Martin and Laura Farnell. Admission is free to the public.
