Local attorney Lisa Pence, 37, has announced that she will run for Erath County Attorney next year.
“I am excited about working closely with law enforcement and the opportunity to serve Erath County,” Pence said.
Raised in Granbury, Pence received a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Texas A&M and her law degree from St. Mary’s School of Law in San Antonio. After graduation, in 1995, Pence moved to Stephenville where she worked for the next six years with the law firm Coan & Elliott. In 2001, she opened her own practice.
In a press release announcing her candidacy, Pence said Erath County has been greatly enriched by her desire to serve the community.
Her community involvement over the past 12 years has included volunteering with the Legal Aid of Northwest Texas Clinic at Cross Timbers Family Services, serving as the Board of Directors President for STAR Council on Substance Abuse and past service on the Board of Directors for Erath Excels! Academy. Pence is currently the president of Zonta Club of Stephenville and a member and past president of Cross Timbers Business and Professional Women’s Club. She served as president on the Stephenville Parks and Recreation Department’s Family Fun Fair committee and volunteers at Meals on Wheels.
“I have chosen to make Stephenville and Erath County my home,” Pence said. “I feel I have a duty to do my part to make it a great place to live.”
Pence joins the race with local attorney Mac Rust who announced his candidacy for county attorney last week. Both say they will run on the Republican ticket. If elected, Pence said she will make the county attorney’s office her full time job.
