So much for a boring election season.

As the March 14 deadline to file to run for city council inches closer, more and more candidates are jumping into the race.

On Friday, Jennifer Garrison entered the mix, filing to take on incumbent Joe Cude for place 1 in the May election.

"I love this town and I want to make sure it continues to progress and get better for our kids," Garrison said. "I think I can provide a fresh perspective."

Garrison is a stay-at-home mom raising three kids. She and her husband, Curt, run several businesses from their home. Garrison has lived in Stephenville for 19 years after moving here in 1992 to attend Tarleton State University.

She joins several other political newcomers who are vying for a chance to serve on the Stephenville City Council.

Mary Beach-McGuire and Joe Bramblett will face off for place 3, currently held by Don Zelman who announced that he will not seek another term.

Colby Lloyd has filed to take on incumbent Martha Taylor for place 7.

The only incumbent who has not drawn an opponent is Alan Nash, place 5.
