Over the last several months, school board members and SISD administrators have worked tirelessly developing a plan to improve the facilities for our elementary age students. We have considered numerous options and weighed the positives and negatives of each.  Our goal has always been to provide the very best learning environment for our children.  And I believe that the plan we have presented does that, and does it well!

On the ballot for the upcoming election, voters have the opportunity to vote on a proposed bond package of almost $34 million.  If approved, we will able to provide needed improvements and new construction for every student in the district from Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade.  The proposed construction not only addresses our current needs; it also provides room for growth for many more years.

Next week, there are two opportunities for voters to attend public forums where you can gather information, ask questions, and get a firsthand look at the proposed buildings. You can attend the forum at Chamberlin on Oct. 5 at 6 p.m., or at Central on Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. Additionally, address your questions to your board members and administrators.  I will be happy to talk with you about the process and the proposal.

This is a good plan that will benefit our children, our teachers, and our community and I encourage you to take the time to gather information, and then to get out and support our children by voting for the bond package.  It is an investment that will build on a solid legacy, and allow us to pursue an exciting future.
