The scandal that has rocked the county involving two local accountants accused of stealing millions of dollars from Erath County clients wasn’t the only case an Erath County grand jury had to contend with Wednesday.

The grand jury also heard seven other cases involving six individuals indicted on charges ranging from credit card abuse to aggravated sexual assault.

Those indicted include:

• John Charles Bailey, 32, aggravated sexual assault, a first-degree felony.

• Chance Franklin Garbutt, 21, possession of a substance in penalty group 1 (less than one gram), a state jail felony.

• Forrest Dillon Lutz, 18, credit or debit card abuse, a state jail felony.

• Steven James McPherson, 49, possession of substance in penalty group 1 (less than one gram), a state jail felony, and prohibited substances and items in a correctional facility, a third-degree felony.

• Justin Casey Northcutt, 22, aggravated sexual assault, a first-degree felony.

• Ruben Vela Jr., 18, burglary of a habitation, a second-degree felony.
