To the editor,
April 2 is National Kick Butts Day, sponsored by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids now in its 15th year. The initiative here and across the country celebrates youth advocacy, leadership and activism, as well as raises public awareness about the dangers of smoking and the need for strong prevention programs.
The campaign emphasizes the number of hazardous chemicals present in each puff of cigarette smoke in addition to tar and nicotine such as arsenic, ammonia, formaldehyde and polonium 210.
STAR Council and the Erath County Community Coalition support their effort and ask citizenís to show their support as well. Please do not smoke if you are pregnant or around infants and children. Keep cigarettes out of reach of older children and never permit them to smoke. Try one more time to quit, in an effort to set a good example for your and our childrenís healthy future.
