Incoming freshmen got a taste of what high school will be like on Thursday, when they participated in Fish Camp 2010.

The annual event is a way for freshmen to learn everything they need to know about school spirit and etiquette, according to Jan Vaughn, assistant principal of Stephenville High School.

Freshmen gathered at 9 a.m. at the high school to participate in a slew of activities aimed at familiarizing them with the campus and learning the do's and don'ts of high school.

Students played tug-of-war, participated in a scavenger hunt and mock pep rally and watched a "fashion show."

"This wasn't the typical fashion show that shows off the latest fashions," Vaughn said. "This was to show students what not to wear."

Freshmen were also given their class schedules for the upcoming semester.

The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 23.

Sophomores, juniors and seniors can pick up their schedules from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 12, in the foyer at the high school.

For those who can't pick them up that day, schedules will be available in the office during the week before classes begin.
