“For the community of Selden, today is a great day!” Mike Moncrief, chief of the Selden Volunteer Fire Department and Realtor at Stephenville Realty, said with a smile. “We are very proud to show off our new Brush Truck.”
After two long years of hard work from its volunteer fire department members, area businesses, and the Selden community, their goal has been accomplished.
Selden VFD welcomes a 2008 Ford F-550, 4-wheel drive truck with a 400 gallon tank and a 10 gallon foam cell on it, built by Wildfire Truck & Equipment of Mansfield.
“We are very excited and proud of what we have been able to accomplish,” says Moncrief. “To add this new truck to our department is a dream come true, it took a lot of hard work for this to happen. We are so blessed here in Selden.”
Moncrief said the community can see where and how their money was spent.
“I knew with all the support behind us we would see this day, and I am very proud of all who have helped.”
Wildfire Truck & Equipment worked with the Selden VFD’s specific needs and situation to build the best truck possible. The community never imagined a truck like this could be achievable, but with Wildfire Truck & Equipment’s help they did it and they did it right.
“We had the community and our volunteers in mind when we built this truck, and I’m sure it is something everyone in Selden will be very proud of,” Moncrief said.
With the purchase of this new truck also come added expenses. The group is planning a hot dog supper and bake sale/auction at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, at the Selden Community Center. Donations will be accepted. For more information about the fund-raiser, call Mike Moncrief at (254-592-4823).
