A Dublin man was killed and his mother was seriously injured in an early morning crash Saturday in Utah.

James Staneart, 53, and Patsy Clark, 73, of Stephenville, were reportedly on their way to Oregon when they collided with a semitrailer hauling bricks just eight miles east of Spanish Fork, according to The Salt Lake Tribune.

A company official with FMC Technologies confirmed Monday that Staneart had been an employee for 22 years.

A third passenger, Joyce Finley, 75, of Missouri, traveling with Staneart and Clark, was also killed.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported that the three were traveling in a red Pontiac when it apparently drifted into oncoming traffic, striking the semi. Staneart was pronounced dead at the scene and Clark was transported by helicopter to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center after suffering a broken neck and back injuries.

The report also stated that investigators believe Clark might have fallen asleep at the wheel.

The driver of the semi suffered minor injuries.
