Bipartisan tacos anyone? Or how about some election enchiladas?

After standing in line at the nearest vote center, take a load off and fill up with one of the best Mexican lunches, or dinners, around. The area's Election Day tradition will continue as St. Luke's Episcopal Church hosts its 55th Annual Mexican Supper Tuesday.

The annual meal began in 1955 and continues to grow as the fame of good food and fellowship continues to spread. The tradition was spurred by the church in an effort to raise money to purchase a new altar set for St. Lukes. Over the last several years, proceeds from the event have continued to benefit various non-profit organizations in Erath County.

Church representative Priscilla Ashe said the St. Luke's family is inviting everyone to lunch and dinner.

"We are planning for a big turnout," Ashe said. "First, those who have yet to do so should get out and vote and then come by for our famous Mexican supper."

The taco lunch buffet will offer tacos by the plate with all the extras. Individual tacos are a good option for lighter appetites. Or pick up a steamy bowl of St. Luke's signature chili, a tasty bowl of beans, or spice it up with an order of nachos.

Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Prices range from a $1 bowl of beans to $5 for a large taco plate.

Only have a minute? Take out service is available for orders of four or more - call in your order at 968-6949. Take out service is also available for the evening meal.

For those who prefer to sit back and enjoy food and fellowship following a long day at the office, or a long wait to cast their ballots, the church's traditional enchilada supper will be served from 5-8 p.m.

The hot, cheesy enchiladas that have made the annual fundraising event a tasty success will be served with plates available for adults and children. For those who prefer an all-American approach to Election Day dining, hot dogs will also be available.

An adult Mexican plate will fill you up for only $7. Children eat for $3.

Ashe said this year's event will include a quilt raffle. She said quilters, who call St. Luke's their church home, have crafted a cozy quilt that will keep one lucky winner warm through the winter months.

Raffle tickets, which will be available for purchase during lunch and dinner, are $1 each or six for $5. Proceeds from the raffle will also benefit organizations aimed at providing assistance to area residents in need.

The church is located at the corner of Vanderbilt and McIlhaney streets in Stephenville.
