A Stephenville woman injured in a head on collision last Friday night remains in critical condition in ICU at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.
Carole Spang suffered multiple injuries in the accident that occurred shortly before 9 p.m. on U.S. Highway 377 north just past what is known as the “nine-mile bridge.” The Chevrolet pickup she was traveling in with her husband, Walter, was struck by a van that swerved into their lane.
The driver of the van, Billy George “B.J.” McLain, 35, of Stephenville, was killed.
Terri White, a family friend, said Carole Spang is listed in critical, but stable condition and underwent surgery Monday afternoon. White said the Spangs were on their way home from Granbury when the accident occurred.
Walter, who is an employee of Saint-Gobain Abrasives, was taken by ambulance to Harris Methodist Erath County Hospital where he was treated and released.
