Stephenville High School PTO will hold its 18th annual Awards Night at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Jaye C. Helm Auditorium at SHS. The public is invited to attend and support the 2008 SHS seniors.

“Awards Night is an opportunity to recognize the student for their high achievements,” said assistant principal Jan Vaughn. “It’s a visual support of appreciation to these students.”

The ceremony will honor about 200 Stephenville High School seniors. The students who have been on the “A” honor roll consecutively for four, three and two years will be recognized, as well as the valedictorian and salutatorian. The seniors who have won the Outstanding Department Course Achievement Awards will also be recognized, and the PTO will honor the National Merit Scholars and several National Merit Commended Students.

In addition to the recognition of these students, there will be a presentation of scholarships awarded to students by representatives from several universities, organizations and even military branches.

All of the students who were recognized for being on the “A” honor roll will be in a drawing for six savings bonds from First Financial Bank in Stephenville.

“Stephenville High School PTO has always been involved in support of our students,” Vaughn said.
