Some dreams have happy endings.
And as plans move forward to construct a “Faith Field for the Angel League, the Stephenville Kiwanis Club is making sure a dream is reached - and there is a happy ending - for a very special group of children.
The Kiwanis is hosting a golf tournament at Canyon West Golf Course in Weatherford on Saturday, Nov. 10. Proceeds from the event will benefit construction of the “Faith Field.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to host an event that will benefit such a worthy cause, said David Swearingen, president of Kiwanis. “Tell all of your golf buddies about this and come join us.
The Angel League is a baseball league for handicapped children. Earlier this year, a group of citizens, headed by Carey Strohmeyer, began raising money for a handicapped accessible baseball field, which will include a wheelchair-accessible dugout and a parking area located near the field.
Organizers say they hope it will be ready by the spring.
The golf tournament will begin at 11 a.m., with a Shot Gun Start at 1 p.m. Green Fee, including range balls, golf cart, closest to the pin, long drive, snacks and beverages is $75 per player. A hamburger buffet will also be available for $8. Meal includes a hamburger, with all the fixings, beans, french fries, and dessert.
Prizes will also be give for Division I (5 to 12), Division II (13 to 19), Division III (20 to 25), Division IV (26 and Up)
