Stephenville police are searching for a man suspected of assaulting four men inside an apartment.

One of the suspects in the case has been arrested, but police are searching for a second suspect, Justin Swann, believed to be a Tolar area resident.

Police Chief Roy Halsell said officers responded to a call shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday from the local emergency room, where four men were being treated for injuries sustained during an altercation at an apartment complex on Vanderbilt Street.

When officers arrived, they identified the four victims as Cooper Dodd, 21, Daniel Lunsford, 19, Josh McGinnis, 20, and William Roberts, age unknown.

The men told police they were inside the apartment when two males and one female knocked on the door. The female was reportedly the ex-girlfriend of one of the men inside the apartment and the males who accompanied her were allegedly intoxicated.

“After arguing with the guy who answered the door (McGinnis), one of the suspects assaulted him,” Halsell said. “Two of the other men inside the residence tried to help the first victim and were also assaulted. The fourth victim was assaulted after he ran down the hallway toward the commotion.”

Dodd reportedly suffered a broken jaw and the other three men sustained various minor injuries in the attack.

Warrants were issued for both suspects. Victor Carlos Gonzalez, 25, was arrested a short time later and charged with criminal trespassing, a class A misdemeanor, for his role in the home invasion. He was released from the Erath County Jail after posting bond.

Swann was identified as the instigator in the attacks and is being sought on two warrants - one for assault and the other for trespassing.

Anyone with information on Swann’s whereabouts should call police at (254) 918-1200.
