E-T Staff Report
A trailer full of crushed cars blocking a highway led to the arrest of two Stephenville men late Thursday afternoon.
Authorities said Jimmy Blake Sparks, 36, was pulling the trailer from an illegal salvage yard on to Farm to Market 914, when it locked up on him.
“The trailer was blocking two lanes of traffic on a curve,” Investigator Donnie Hensley said.
When deputies arrived, they realized Sparks was wanted for illegally operating a salvage yard. His partner, Christopher Postma, arrived on the scene and was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
Hensley said both men are known for having previous drug arrests. He said a canine unit was called to the scene and “alerted” authorities that drugs were inside of Sparks’ pickup.
Sparks was also charged with possession of methamphetamine.
