Get ready everyone, because Santa Claus is coming to town!
The elves are busy at work preparing a Holly Jolly Christmas experience you won’t want to miss and that you’ll never forget!
The Stephenville Chamber of Commerce and SPARD have once again joined forces to provide residents with an event for the whole family to enjoy. Holly Jolly Christmas is set for 6 until 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4. Holiday activities will be found throughout the City Park, Downtown Square and Plaza, offering a wide variety of fun activities for both young and old.
The holiday adventure begins at 5:45 p.m. at the Downtown Plaza for the official lighting of the Christmas Tree, where Santa Claus and Mayor Nancy Hunter will greet Holiday-goers.
Then, be ushered into the spirit of Christmas with live Christmas performances by “CANTA Children’s Chorus” and “In the Mix” from Stephenville High School Choir from 6 to 6:30 p.m. at the Plaza.
Be sure to visit Santa’s house located at City Park where he will eagerly await children stopping by for a visit and a Christmas Wish; don’t forget your letters to Santa. No Christmas adventure is complete without snow and plenty of it! While at the park, come enjoy Snowland Children’s activities. After playing, how about warming up with a cup of hot chocolate, warm Dublin Dr Pepper or spiced cider? Photos are available with Santa and his reindeer and will be taken by Project Graduation.
Other fun activities will include a petting zoo, obstacle course, slide and kiddy train rides. Enjoy live Christmas music and have a snack while you browse the Giant Christmas Cards, coloring contest winners, and various gift vendors. Live performances will also be going on inside the Rec. Hall.
But that’s not all… Hop on a carriage ride and head back downtown to the Carriage Stop at Beauty for Ashes where you can enjoy some holiday shopping, fun activities and another Project Graduation photo opportunity. Next you can walk on over to the library for some refreshments and story time for the kids.
Head to the Plaza as you enjoy the “Tree of Hope” display. Stroll along the large array of wonderfully decorated and lighted Christmas trees and don’t forget to cast your vote for your favorite while giving to a local charity. Make your way to the large Plaza Community Tree where you can enjoy Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree live music and dance featuring Courtney Patton from 7 to 9 p.m.
Visit the Chamber booth for event information, tickets to win free prizes, to vote on the Candy Cane Lane Decorating Contest, to adopt a family for the holidays and to send Letters to Santa.
The Holidays wouldn’t be the same without a Holiday Classic Christmas Movie. Grab a bag of popcorn and join us on the square for a Christmas movie at the Holiday Movie Theater where you will enjoy all your favorites like Frosty, Rudolph, Charlie Brown Christmas and more. If you get a little hungry then walk on over to the Courthouse Square and visit the Cowboy Christmas Chuck Wagon. Eat at the Chuck Wagon under the stars for a true Cowboy Christmas experience serving up tasty nachos and cowboy beans and rice. While you’re there enjoy some holiday shopping as you browse our large variety of vendor gift booths. Bring a wrapped toy for the toy drive or canned goods to earn Gorilla Bucks from Great Clips. Other vendors will offer new Yellow Jacket playoff T-shirts, everyone’s favorite Dippin Dots, fashions from the Fancy Pheasant, and other great gift items.
While you shop, let the kids take a ride on the Kiddy Train around the Courthouse Square. Next head on over to Mrs. Claus Cookie Factory located inside Simply Deli. Join Mrs. Claus and decorate Christmas Cookies for Santa. The elves have a special craft project for you to enjoy!
All aboard and back to the Plaza to load up on the Lighted Hay Ride as it takes you by the Live Nativity Scene located at First Christian Church from 7-8 p.m. After you experience all the fun downtown head back to the park for the Grand Finale Firework display to end a perfect Christmas celebration.
