Horse riding enthusiasts listen up!
Saturday is your chance to enjoy a trail ride benefiting sick children.
The Lilly G Riding Club is sponsoring a trail ride at the Cross Timbers Trail in Highland. Proceeds from the event will benefit Western Wishes, an organization that grants wishes to sick or terminally ill children who love the western way of life.
Rick Taylor, Lilly G arena director, said he is excited about the event and hopes to make the ride an annual one.
“We enjoy hosting events that benefit children,” Taylor said. “This is a great cause and we hope people will come out to enjoy the day and offer their support.”
“Ride for Wishes” is a six hour, guided adventure that will take riders through rugged terrain peppered with various wildlife including turkey, armadillo, raccoon or deer.
Awards will be given for the oldest and youngest rider, largest team and the rider who travels the farthest.
There is a $25 entry fee and riders must register by noon Friday.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. Saturday and the ride begins at 9. A barbecue lunch will be provided. For entry forms or more information, call 254-445-4851.
