The Comanche County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a DeLeon woman after she apparently fell out of a vehicle last Thursday, Aug. 19, and died.

The sheriff's office responded to a call about 9:30 p.m. reporting that Juanita "Janie" Moreno, 48, was unresponsive after falling out of a slow-moving vehicle on CR 454, about one mile north of DeLeon, according to Sgt. Chris Pounds.

A press release issued by the sheriff's office states that the driver of the vehicle was DeLeon resident Arthur Flores, 45. Moreno was transported to the Comanche County Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Pounds said Monday that a preliminary report from the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office states that Moreno's injuries were consistent with falling out of a vehicle and that there are no signs of foul play. He also said the case will be forwarded to a grand jury for review.

Investigators are waiting on the final autopsy and toxicology reports.
