The Stephenville Masonic Lodge is frying it up once again.

The lodge began taking orders for its seventh annual Turkey Fundraiser last week.

“I think orders are coming in pretty good this year,” James Musgrove, secretary of the lodge, said. “The sooner you order the better.”

The turkeys will be fried the day before Thanksgiving and will need to be picked up from the lodge on Columbia Street that day.

Last year the lodge fried 200 turkeys, selling 195 of them and donating the leftovers to the foster home. If this year proves to be as successful for the men, Wednesday will be a busy day at the lodge. But they take comfort in knowing that it is all for a good cause.

“The main thing that comes out of it is a $1,000 scholarship for a senior at Stephenville High School,” Musgrove said.

The fried pheasants, which weigh approximately 12 pounds, are $35 each, a deal the group says can’t be beat.

To order a turkey, call the lodge at 254-965-4175 and leave a message including name and phone number. A member of the lodge will call back to verify the order.

“Ensure your turkey now,” Hutchins said.
