The Stephenville City Council will hold two meetings this week, beginning with a committee work session today. In addition, a special meeting will be held Wednesday to take care of post-Election Day business.
At Monday’s meeting, the Nominations Committee, chaired by Dr. Malcom Cross will discuss appointments to the city’s various boards and committees.
The Personnel Committee will continue discussions on the city’s pay plan, and address the city’s Texas Municipal Retirements Systems (TMRS) ordinance.
The committee meetings will begin today at 5:30 p.m. in the city hall training room at 298 W. Washington - use the Columbia Street entrance.
At Wednesday night’s meeting, the council will canvass the election results from the Nov. 4 election.
Following the finalizing of the election returns, former council member Don Zelman will take the oath of office. Zelman, who ran against Martha Cashon, Virginia Abel and Cyndi Godwin, won by a wide margin when he garnered 42-percent of the vote for the city council seat.
Finally, the council will consider the approval of a capital lease to finance the purchase of landfill equipment.
Wednesday night’s meeting will begin at 5:05 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
