E-T Staff Report

Sara Vanden Berge has been named managing editor of the Empire-Tribune.

E-T publisher Rochelle Stidham made the announcement Monday, saying that Vanden Berge would assume her new role immediately.

“Sara has been in this community for many years and has been involved in various organizations,” Stidham said. “She has been employed with the E-T for over two years and has the ambition to make this newspaper successful in every aspect.”

Vanden Berge began writing for the E-T in 2001, when she was hired to write a weekly column. In 2005, she joined the staff as a full-time reporter, covering the city beat, as well as business and political issues.

In 2006, she was promoted to news editor, and began overseeing all special sections, the Sunday Lifestyles section, and began covering courts and law enforcement.

In July, the West Texas Press Association presented Vanden Berge with a third place award for Journalist of the Year. She also won second place for news writing.

Vanden Berge and her husband, Steve, have lived in Stephenville for 17 years and have three children.
