To the editor,

I am writing in response to the letter in Sunday’s issue regarding Stephenville’s fuel prices. I manage a convenience store in Stephenville, one of the busiest, and would like to let the residents know that fuel prices aren’t just hurting them, they are hurting us too. The reason we are so much higher in prices is due to the fact that places like Granbury and Brownwood have more traffic coming in and out. They sell more fuel than we do, which means they have to buy fuel more often. By doing that, it gives them better pricing because the fuel market is constantly changing and unless you receive fuel every day, you’re just not going to see cheaper prices.

I strongly urge all Erath County citizens to stop spending their money in other counties and going for the “best” prices. The only way to get around this problem is to hit it head on. Let’s pull together as a county like we’ve always done in the past and let’s show these other counties that we can beat their gas prices and maybe pull some of their business over to our area.
