Arts advocate and wife will represent Plano in competing for the title of Mrs. Texas America on June 13, 2009 at the Carroll High Theater in Southlake.

Holly Hensler, a committed wife and supporter of the arts in education was chosen to compete for the title of Mrs. Texas America from a field of applicants received from throughout the area. Holly is committed to cultivating an environment that nurtures and sustains the artistic spirit. Her efforts stem from a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at Tarleton State University as well as her career as an Account Executive at THE Magazine, DFW’s monthly magazine of and for the arts. She is also a professional artist and is solely represented by Karen Kostohryz at The Chambered Nautilus Fine Arts Gallery. In addition to her creative talent, Holly sees the true value of art in society as a language that cuts across racial, social, educational, and economic barriers enhancingcultural appreciation and awareness. “I believe art develops independence, analytical and critical thinking improving higher academic achievement in our adolescents,” says Hensler. “And I want to support the role that art plays in child development and the positive effects it has on children with learning disabilities.”

Holly’s husband, Gary, works at The University of Texas at Dallas and is currently pursuing his Masters in Public Affairs. He is extremely proud and supports Holly in all of her endeavors. In addition to being a committed wife and supporter of the arts, Holly also enjoys volunteering for children’s charity events, participating in various art organizations, and especially spending valuable time with her family and friends.

Holly will be competing in three categories for the Mrs. Texas title: personal interview, swimsuit and evening gown. The winner of the Mrs. Texas America Pageant will receive a prize package worth thousands of dollars and will go on to compete for the title of Mrs. America in September in Tucson, AZ. The Mrs. America Pageant is the only nationally televised pageant for married women in the country.
