It’s hot outside and school is about to be back in session. Those two things will be combined into one fantastic celebration at Splashville as the city hosts a “Back to School Luau” next weekend.
Before the daily grind of homework takes priority, area students - and their families - will have one last opportunity for a summer break Saturday.
The full-day-of-fun begins at 1 p.m. when the pool opens. Bounce houses will open at 2 and pool games (with prizes) will take place from 5-6:30 p.m. Free watermelon will be served at 6:30 followed by team activities (four per team) from 6:30-8.
But the fun doesn’t stop there.
Stick around and hang ten for a movie in the pool. “Surf’s Up” will begin at 8:30 p.m. followed by a fireworks show at 10.
Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for senior citizens, $2 for students and children two and under are free. The admission fee is good for the full-day-of-fun and the admission fee also applies to the night’s activities. For those who need a break from the heat but would like to return for the movie, armbands will be provided for re-entry.
The slides and lazy river will shut down 15 minutes before the movie begins. The main swimming pool will remain open, but tube rentals will not be available.
