MILFORD, CT - The Subway restaurant chain has honored Schreiber Foods as its 2009 Vendor of the Year, citing Schreiber for its consistent on-time and complete deliveries, its continued culinary support, its leadership in driving supply chain efficiencies and the company’s ability to control costs for thousands of Subway franchises.
Schreiber Foods provides cheese and dairy products to Subway restaurants in 36 countries. The award was recently presented at the annual Subway convention in Washington D.C.
“Schreiber has looked at all aspects of the Subway business and has made extraordinary efforts to align with our objectives and adapt to our needs, both domestically and internationally,” said Dennis Clabby, vice president of purchasing for the chain’s Independent Purchasing Cooperative.
In addition to Schreiber’s responsiveness, vision and global capabilities, the company also proved to be a valuable business partner in the Subway brand’s sustainability efforts by reducing the innerleaf paper between cheese slices, saving about 450,000 pounds of paper in the process.
“We’re extremely honored to be recognized with this award,” said John O’Connor, senior vice president-Schreiber foodservice sales. “We’re continually working to strengthen our partnership with Subway and deliver innovative solutions that add value for the Subway system. We’re very proud to be associated with Subway and are eager to continue finding new ways to contribute to Subway’s long-term success.”
