Amateur radio operators from North Central Texas will hold a Simulated Emergency Test (SET) for the area from 9 - 11 a.m. Saturday.
The exercise will involve hams from six counties and is only one of the ways local hams continually practice to ensure that they are ready to provide communications during an emergency or disaster.
Anyone listening to amateur frequencies in the two meter band Saturday morning will hear communications relating to damage, fire, flood and injuries. The Net Control operators will use the words “simulation,” “drill” and “test” during the exercise.
The exercise will use frequencies 147.360 MHz, 146.250 MHz, 146.580 MHz and 146.550 MHz.
The base of operations for the exercise will be at Optimist Jaycee Park. Anyone interested in amateur radio or just in observing, the exercise is welcome to stop by.
